KYLIAN MBAPPE: LA LIGA PRESIDENT JAVIER TEBAS SAYS FRANCE FORWARD 'IS REAL MADRID'S NEXT SEASON'

PUBLISHED 14/05/2024 AT 15:39 GMT

Kylian Mbappe has come close to joining Madrid in the past but now the deal is soon to be confirmed, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas. The France forward could join the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but Tebas warned the presence of such a "great squad" does "not guarantee you will win leagues." Mbappe also discussed his Olympic hopes.

La Liga president Javier Tebas says that France forward Kylian Mbappe will join Real Madrid this summer.
Mbappe, 25, came close to joining Real Madrid in 2022 but instead extended his contract for two further years with an option of an additional year.
That contract is now set to run out
with just one game of the Ligue 1
season remaining and the World Cup
winner has now left PSG and is
widely expected to be a new Real
Madrid player.

The move has not yet been officially confirmed, but speaking to Argentine paper Ole (quotes from France 24 via the Buenos Aires office of AFP) on Monday, Tebas revealed his belief that the deal is done.
"He's Madrid's next season, yes," Tebas said.
"If they've signed a five-year deal, he has five seasons of opportunity [to win the Champions League].

"[Mbappe] is one of the best players in the world, but Vinicius and Bellingham are there too, Madrid will have a great squad.
"But that does not guarantee you will win leagues."
As Tebas pointed out, Mbappe seems set to join an all-star cast alongside Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham, who have both played starring roles for Madrid this season as they won La Liga.
The Spanish giants are also in the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappe is the latest in a string of signings that has seen Madrid president Florentino Perez try and create a younger set of Galacticos that can stay at the club for a long time.
As well as Bellingham and Vinicius, Real Madrid have also signed the likes of Rodrgyo, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.

As for PSG, after Mbappe’s last home game for the club, which was a surprise 3-1 loss to Toulouse, their manager Luis Enrique hailed the forward, but said he wants the team to get even better despite his departure.
Enrique said: “These are things that we have known for a long time, it was only made public yesterday. But it doesn't change anything in terms of our general outlook. Everything will stay the same.
“Regardless of those who are here or who are absent, my aim is to be stronger next season.
“PSG will continue to be a great team and we'll get even better. We will bring in players with strong mentality and players who identify with the club, that's how life works.”

'OLYMPIC GAMES IN FRANCE VERY IMPORTANT'

Mbappe himself has shared his latest thoughts on the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and whether he will be present for the French football team.
French president Emmanuel Macron is among those to have called for the forward's participation.
"It's not a situation that depends on me," Mbappe said. "The Olympic Games in France, they're very important.
"We've got to think about it as adults and find the best solution for all parties.
"Whatever happens, I'll be happy."
